The Body in Transition in Images Re-vues (October 2023)

In October 2023, alongside Quentin Petit Dit Duhal, I co-directed special issue no. 11 of “Images Re-vues” (Images Re-viewed) titled Corps en transition (The Body in Transition). This edition reflects on the history of body representations in mutation, exploring the transformations in art history and visual representation, influenced by cultural, social, and technological contexts.

An Exploration of Representations of the Mutating Body

This issue analyzes how representations of the body have evolved across different epochs and artistic disciplines. Among the focal points are:

  • Body mutations in the history of art and imagery.
  • The impact of social and scientific evolutions on body perception.
  • The connections between body transformation and visual identity.

My Role as Co-Director of the Publication

In this editorial project, I contributed to:

  • Defining the thematic and methodological framework of the issue.
  • Coordinating the authors and the submitted articles.
  • Reviewing and structuring the contributions.
  • Promoting and disseminating the issue to academic and broader audiences.

Impact and Perspectives

This publication highlights the richness of interpretations of the transforming body and opens perspectives for reflection on the evolution of bodily representations in the artistic and visual field. It fits within an interdisciplinary dynamic, merging art history, aesthetics, and human sciences.
