Avant-guard of Research-Creation: My Experience Co-Organizing a Roundtable (October 21, 2023)

On October 21, 2023, I co-organized and participated in a roundtable titled “Prospective de la recherche-création” (“Futures of Research-Creation”) as part of the Création[tiret]recherche exhibition at Art Image. Alongside my colleague Jérémie Roussel, we explored new frontiers in the integration of academic research and artistic creation.

A Dialogue Between Art and Academia

This roundtable brought together artists, researchers, and thinkers to discuss the challenges and opportunities of research-creation. We addressed questions about how artistic practices can enrich academic research and vice versa, emphasizing the importance of this fusion for innovation in both fields.

Interaction and Reception

The event generated considerable enthusiasm among participants, sparking a lively and constructive exchange on best practices for encouraging cross-disciplinary collaboration. Discussions highlighted concrete examples of successful research-creation projects and proposed strategies for overcoming institutional and conceptual barriers.

Personal Reflections

Organizing and participating in this roundtable was particularly rewarding. It not only strengthened my connections within the artistic and academic communities, but also broadened my understanding of interdisciplinary dynamics. It renewed my commitment to promoting research-creation as an essential domain for the future of education and artistic practice.

The experience highlighted the importance of continuing to explore and advocate for the intersections between art and science. It demonstrated that collaboration across disciplines can lead to discoveries and revolutionary creations, positively impacting both the academic world and the realm of art.
